Fruit Cart
Cabaret (2022)

A fruit cart for Penn State Centre Stage's 2022 production of Cabaret

The top and base of the cart are notty pine with 45 degree mitered corners topped with 3/4" ply wood

The front legs are two pieces of 4x4 whit the back is a man made 4x4 using 3x4" ply and so it can act as the upstage legs as well as the metal post of the cart.

We also added a middle beam and arch as well as two finials to the top of each post. I painted the cart with a watery brown and primes the "metal" areas with white.

The crates were made using 1/2" plywood and pieces of 2x4 cut into a right trangle to hold the crates together at the corners.

The crates were painted with a watery base coat of brown or grey and dry brushed over to get a natural wood texture. I left the staple marks exposed so I could mark them with some black paint later on.

The cart was given some detail witha. chipping paint texture using white glue and paint. Dried with a heat gun that then made it looked cracked. Along with some rust/ dirt detail. Dressed with snuff tins and cans along with burlap and fruit with a false button in the crates.
